Dear Parents,

It’s hard to believe that the school year has already ended. Boys and girls have worked so diligently throughout the year, always striving to do their personal best each day in the classroom. I am so proud of all they have accomplished and achieved for themselves as learners. Their hard work and positive attitudes in the classroom have helped them a great deal. Our classroom has been full of learning, laughter, making friends, and discovering new and amazing things through all of our talents.

Students can continue to work in their math books that will be going home for the summer. This will help them to build upon their math skills and gain practice as well. They can continue with Xtra-Math and Khan Academy too!  Third graders keep practicing your multiplication and division facts for Miss Wilson. I am also sending home vocabulary books for students to work in over the summer on a rainy day.

Please have your child continue reading throughout the summer. Pick a few good books and read for pleasure and enjoyment. It really makes a difference with their reading progress.

Thanks so much for all your constant support throughout the school year. I am so grateful for everything that you have done to help make this year a success. Have an enjoyable, relaxing, summer with your child. They are all truly amazing!!!

God Bless,

Mrs. Lemire

Dear Parents,

It has been a busy week of learning in third and fourth grade this week. I have begun reading assessments for the end of the year. They will continue into next week for students. They have been working on various reading activities for stories that we are reading in groups. I hope to be finished with assessments at the end of next week.

Since we didn’t have school on Monday and our field trip today, I have decided to have students take their unit 14 vocabulary test on Tuesday of next week. This will give us time to finish activities for the unit and for students to be able to have more study time. No spelling for next week. We will focus on language after the vocabulary test on Tuesday.

Third graders took their chapter test for multiplication and division this week. They will begin a chapter on multiplying by one digit next week. Keep practicing their multiplication and division facts to keep up their skills.

Third graders will take a social studies test next week on the unit People working Together. I have been reviewing all week with them to prepare for their test. The next unit will be Living Together in a Community, State, and Nation. A parent letter about this unit will be in Thursday folders.

In science we have begun as review on our chapter called The Sun, Planets, and Moon. We will continue to review next week and a short quiz on Friday. This will be an open book quiz for students.

We had a fabulous time on our field trip today!  I am so glad that the weather was so nice for students to be able to enjoy the day! A thank you to parents who were able to help out today!

Have a great weekend with your child. They are all truly amazing!! Thanks to everyone for your constant support. It it so appreciated!!

Third and fourth graders have been busy  in the classroom. They have been focused and engaged with learning each day. I am very proud of all the hard work they are accomplishing and how they strive to do their personal best each day. Nice work!!

This week in math third graders worked on a review of dividing by 2, 3, 4, and 5. Next week they will be focusing on dividing by 6, 7, 8, and 9. Any added practice with these concepts would be helpful as well as reviewing multiplication facts.

It will be a spelling week next week. The focus will be adding -s or -es to words to make them plural and learning the rules to follow when using these suffixes. Students will do various activities during the week centered about these spelling concepts and rules.

In language we are finishing up with simple and compound sentences. We will be focusing on common and proper nouns, singular and plural nouns, and using abbreviations and titles. Students are working on writing piece of their choice. We have done various vocabulary activities this week centered around unit 13 words. Students will take a vocabulary practice test today and have their vocabulary test tomorrow.

Share for next week will a person who is important to me and why.

Dear Parents,

Boys and girls have been working hard this week. Our focus has been on Science Fair projects. Students have presented their projects to classmates and myself this week. This also helps them to feel comfortable presenting  in front of people and being judged. Thanks so much for all your support and hard work with these projects. I greatly appreciate all the work that you did in helping your child to be successful with a project and providing them with learning opportunities to become good scientists! I am amazed at all the wonderful projects that students have done!!

Dear Parents,

Students have had lots of fun this Catholic Schools Week. The community dinner was wonderful. It was so nice to see and meet everyone’s guests that attended.  Students have enjoyed dancing, singing songs, and playing outside with friends.  They enjoyed a movie and popcorn yesterday and were comfy and cozy in their pajamas.  Today students made valentines for the Veterans with a sixth grade buddy.  We will attend mass tomorrow morning and then enjoy winter activities.  What a great week we have had!!

Since our schedule has been different this week, students will take their vocabulary test for unit 8 on Tuesday of next week. This will allow them to have some extra practice with words and to study a bit more. It will be a spelling week next week. Our focus  will words with long and short vowels of e.

Students completed poems about winter for our writing project this week.  They did a wonderful job with these. You will have the opportunity to read them at open house tonight.  The language focus continues to be on simple, complete, and compound predicates as well as combining sentences using compound predicates.  They have also identified  verbs in sentences and written their own sentences using and identifying simple, complete and compound predicates.

Third graders are enjoying multiplication very much. Any added practice with facts would be helpful for them. So far we have done multiplying by 0,1, 2, and 3. Students will begin doing mad-minute to gain knowledge of facts and we will play some games which focus on multiplication facts.

Our share for next week will be a favorite nonfiction book.

Look forward to seeing everyone at open house tonight at 5:30. Thanks for all your constant support. It is greatly appreciated!

Dear Parents,

Third and fourth graders have  been very busy in the classroom. They have been focused, engaged, sharing great ideas, and learning new things.  I am very proud of all the hard work that they have put forth and all that has been accomplished.

Students have worked on goals and come up with two or three ways to help them to achieve these goals throughout the school year. We have been focusing on rules and expectations as well.  There has been a lot of student input and sharing of ideas as we work together on these rules and expectations. I have used interactive modeling techniques to practice with students to help them to gain understanding as well as being able to actively participate.

Students will focus on unit 1 in vocabulary books next week. We have started previewing unit 1 and will continue working on activities next week. Students will have a vocabulary test next Friday for unit 1 words.  They will also have a little home work for added practice.

I will begin reading groups next week as well.  Students will be doing reading logs for books that they read out of school. They will have a short activity to complete each night that goes with what they have read.  They will read for 15 minutes each night.  I will send home more information about this at the beginning of the week. Students are working on their sandwich book reports in class for a book that they read. These are coming along nicely.

In science students will focus on the human body for our first unit.  In language we have been working on sentences. Students have worked on activities this week centered around this.

Students have been working on posters about themselves as well. I have enjoyed seeing the creativity that students have and learning new things about them as they add information to their posters. Could you please have your child bring in a few  pictures of themselves for their posters. I have already spoken to students about this.

It should be a wonderful day for our field trip to the Apple Orchard. Students are looking forward to going.

Dear Parents,

It has been a fun and exciting week in third and fourth grade. Our classroom has been full of laughter, learning and discovering new things.  I have enjoyed listening to everyone’s summer stories and to see how welcoming students have been to our new friends in the classroom.

Our theme this week has been on activities centered around getting to know one another as well as learning all about themselves as individuals. Students are focusing on hopes and dreams for the school year.  They are also thinking about goals and ways to accomplish and achieve those goals.

Students wrote stories about their summer memories.  They will be creating and designing posters about themselves.  We will be working on these next week as well. These posters will be much different than the ones we have done before.

We will continue to focus on student and teacher expectation along with class routines next week.  I will begin reading assessments for students as well.  They will work on book reports in class as I am working on assessments with students.  Could you please have your child bring in a dollar store sketch pad for art class with Mrs. Coe.
